Simalungun Police Chief, AKBP Marganda Aritonang, asked both parties to refrain.
“I hope that each party, both from the Sihaporas community and from PT TPL, to be able to refrain and not carry out activities in a location that can be a conflict so that the same incident does not happen again in the future,” said AKBP Marganda Aritonang, Tuesday (9/23).

Marganda revealed that the problems that occurred between PT TPL and indigenous people had been going on for a long time.Because each party claims the most right to manage the land.
“The background of the problem has been a long time, since 2015 until now it has not been completed. The problem starts from each party claiming the land in the Sihaporas Village,” he said.
Marganda said the Simalungun Regional Police had taken strategic steps to reduce conflict.Police personnel are lowered to the location to carry out security.
“We have made security efforts to withdraw both parties from the conflict location to minimize the victims. We have also succeeded in emptying the location. I also conducted an interview with the victims to provide an overview of the officers related to the follow -up going forward and how the situation at the scene during the commotion,” he said.
He explained when the evacuation incident was carried out in stages.The indigenous people also returned to their village, then the police also emptied the area of PT TPL employees or officers.
According to him, mediation efforts have also been carried out through meetings with related parties.Even both parties have also been advised not to do activities in the conflict area.
“We have carried out a meeting activity with TPL and Pangulu from Sihaporas Village to convey that the location of the incident is considered to be a status quo. We ask that all parties to be patient and refrain from carrying out any activities while in the conflict area,” he said.
However, Marganda ensured the situation was safe.So that people do not need to worry about their activities again.Because police personnel namely Brimob One Company has been deployed to carry out security around the scene.
Previously, the clash between hundreds of workers of PT Toba Pulp Lestari (TPL) and traditional farmers broke out again on Monday, September 22, 2025 in the Buntu Panaturan Indigenous Peoples, Village/Nagori Sihaporas, Pematang Sidamanik District, which was only about 2-3 kilometers from the lip of Lake Toba, Dolok Mauli-Sipolha.
In the incident, at least 34 farmers who were members of the customary institution of Ompu Mamontang Laut Ambarita (Lamtoras) suffered injuries due to clashes.
Of that number, 10 people must undergo intensive treatment.Not only that, the motorcycle owned by farmers was damaged, 10 of them were burned, 4 units of residents’ housing were burned, the harvest was destroyed.Not only that, IPB students and also disabled children are said to be suspected of being victims of violence by the security of PT TPL.
