He ensured that the merger process would not be detrimental, especially for water lamps who currently receive positive appreciation from the public.
“I think it is not a rejection but we respect. As I said that of course they love our airlines, our brothers and sisters and the fathers that we respect also provide actually input,” Dony said at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Monday (29/9).

According to him, the input delivered by Mufti Anam is not a form of rejection, but a warning so that the merger does not have a negative impact on the water lamp.
“They do not want later it will make the lamp so bad. This is a warning for us. So don’t always see rejection. Remember, do not let this merge even bring the lamp to be bad. Actually that was conveyed by Commission VI,” he said.
Dony ensured that his party recorded the concern as a material consideration in the merger process.
“This is a note for us so that in this process it will not then make the lamp become ugly, but instead we hope to be better,” he said.
Previously, member of the House of Representatives Commission VI Mufti Anam in a meeting with Garuda Indonesia Directors on Monday (9/22) expressed his disapproval of the merger plan.
He considered that Pelita Air had developed well and became a reliable alternative flight.
“About the lamp of the water that wants to be combined with Garuda, I strongly disagree with this, sir. We, to be honest when pressed, when I no longer believe in Garuda, yesterday I took a water lamp, on time too, it turned out,” said Mufti.
He even mentioned the service of clean water, on time, and free from the financial burden that was previously borne by its parent, Pertamina.
“So I do not want Garuda to then hijack a good water lamp to be our pride airline, then finally damaged because of the work culture virus in Garuda Indonesia which is chaotic, so sir,” he said.
The Pelita Air Merger Plan with Garuda Indonesia has also been conveyed by Pertamina’s President Director Simon Aloysius in a working meeting with the House of Representatives Commission VI on 11 September.
Simon said that the merging of the business unit was being explored under the coordination of BPI and Antara, in line with Pertamina’s strategy which would focus on the core business in the oil and gas sector.
Former BUMN Minister Erick Thohir previously also said the merger plan was still in the study stage.
According to Erick, this step is important because Indonesia still lacks the flight fleet, while the two airlines have different market segments.
