Apart from that, Djaka promised to take firm action against rogue Customs officers.
Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman previously discovered 250 tons of illegal rice entering Sabang, Aceh on Sunday (23/11).Another illegal rice was found in Batam on Monday (25/11) evening around 40.4 tons.
Amran reminded President Prabowo Subianto’s order not to import rice because domestic stocks were sufficient.The discovery of illegal rice was immediately sealed by the government.
Separately, the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa claimed that he immediately gathered the ranks of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise after the discovery of illegally imported rice in Sabang and Batam.
“We discussed it with them, I said this, ‘The image of Customs and Excise is not good in the media, in society, in our highest leadership (President Prabowo Subianto)’. So, we have to improve it seriously,” said Purbaya after the Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission
