“We hope that the newly formed director general of Islamic boarding schools will have a vision called a vision of empowerment,” said Cak Imin in Semarang, Central Java, Wednesday (29/10).
Cak Imin said that Islamic boarding schools can be said to be a complete package in alleviating poverty.

First, it is an educational institution and also has strength in the empowerment sector.
“Yesterday I met the director general of Islamic education. I conveyed to him that the vision of empowerment must be included in our world of education,” he said.
In this way, Cak Imin said that the basis of education in Indonesia, including Islamic boarding schools, will be based on talent.
“From the start, students’ talents have been nurtured. Thankfully, since they entered education, talent detection has been carried out,” he said.
The establishment of the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools within the Ministry of Religion was previously approved by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
This was conveyed to coincide with Santri Day 2025 on Wednesday (22/10) by the Deputy Minister of Religion, Father Muhammad Syafi’i.
“With this letter, I would like to convey that the President has approved the formation of a Director General of Islamic Boarding Schools within the Ministry of Religion,” said Romo.
Romo said that the formation of the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools aims to provide greater attention to Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.
“So that the government will be more present in serving and supporting the development of Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia,” he said.
