Releases a new memorandum of understanding with authority
Palestine
which confirms London’s commitment to the Two-State Solution (two-country solutions) based on the border line in 1967.
The British also stated that his party did not recognize the illegal occupation of Zionist over a number of Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, as part of Israel.
This step was announced ahead of the UN General Assembly hearing in September, where the British planned to officially recognize the Palestinian state.
In the document, the British government stated that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip “must be reunited under a single authority.”
In another important statement, the document confirms that the Palestinian authority must have a central role in the next phase in Gaza, including in terms of governance, security, and initial recovery after conflict.
Previously, Britain had called for Hamas to be eradicated and stopped his power in Gaza.
This British step created an unprecedented abyss of policy between London and Tel Aviv.
In June, the British imposed sanctions on two Israeli Ministers, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, for “Mention of repeated violence against the Palestinian community.”
Tension increased after July 23, the Israeli parliament endorsed the non -binding motion that called for the government to annex the occupied West Bank.
A few days later, on August 4, a source close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly revealed that Israel is now pushing “full occupation of the Gaza Strip.”
Channel 12 quoted “senior figures at the Prime Minister’s Office” which stated that the decision had been taken, and Israel would expand land operations to the western region of Gaza City and refugee camps in the central part.
In this memorandum of understanding, the British also called for the implementation of “inclusive general elections in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza” in as fast as possible.
The document reiterated that “the British recognized the right of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny, including the rights to an independent state.”
Britain also implicitly rejected a proposal from the United States for the takeover of Gaza by a third party, and instead expressed its support for “Gaza recovery and reconstruction planning led by Palestine.”
Last week, the British government announced its intention to recognize the Palestinian state in September, following a similar commitment from France which was announced on July 24.
If there is no drastic diplomatic change, Britain and France will become the first G7 country to officially recognize Palestinian independence.
Responding to the British move, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office delivered a statement through social media X: “Starmer gave a prize for Hamas savage terrorism & punished its victims. A jihad country on Israel’s border today will threaten Britain tomorrow.”
Netanyahu himself is becoming a fugitive from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes, especially related to the use of hunger as a weapon of war in Gaza.
