regrets the incident of beating to death a young man named Arjuna Tamaraya (21) at the Sibolga Grand Mosque, Jalan Diponegoro, Sibolga Kota District.
The victim was beaten because he slept in the mosque.Bobby considers acts of violence in places of worship to be very unfortunate and injure human values and the sanctity of places of worship.
“The victim was only resting in the mosque area, but perhaps there was a misunderstanding or misunderstanding that resulted in the beating. It’s very unfortunate, places of worship should be used for positive things,” said Bobby, Tuesday (4/11).

Bobby appreciated the quick steps taken by the police who succeeded in arresting the perpetrators, and hopes that the legal process will be carried out firmly so that a similar incident does not happen again.
“We hope that the police have arrested the perpetrator and will be rewarded,” he stressed.
Bobby also reminded the importance of maintaining the function of the mosque as a place of worship as well as a place of protection for anyone who needs a place to stop, including travelers.
“I think for people to rest, especially travelers, assistance should also be prioritized. What’s wrong with a mosque being used as a resting stop, as long as it is used for good things,” he explained.
Sibolga Police have arrested five suspects in the attack on victim Tamaraya (21) who was sleeping at the Sibolga Grand Mosque.The five suspects are Rismansyah Efendi Caniago (30), Chandra Lubis (38), Zulham Piliang alias Ajo (57), Hasan Basri alias Kompil (46) and Syazwan Situmorang (40).
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Rustam E Silaban said the incident occurred at the Sibolga Grand Mosque, Jalan Diponegoro, Sibolga Kota District, Sibolga City, North Sumatra Province on Friday (31/10/2025) at around 03.30 WIB.At that time, victim Arjuna Tamaraya wanted to rest at the mosque.However, ZP forbids it.
“From the examination, the victim Arjuna Tamaraya originally intended to rest in the mosque. However, one of the suspects reprimanded him,” said AKP Rustam, Sunday (2/11).
Even though he had been reprimanded, ZP saw the victim sleeping in the mosque without his permission.Because his prohibition was ignored, ZP felt offended and called his friends, namely Hasan Basri alias Kompil, Syazwan Situmorang, Efendi Caniago and Chandra Lubis.
“After that, the victim was assaulted by being stepped on and beaten by the perpetrators inside the mosque. They dragged him outside. The victim’s head also hit the steps while being dragged,” he explained.
Not only was he beaten and stepped on, the victim’s head was also thrown using a coconut.The suspect, Syazwan Situmorang, even stole IDR 10,000 from the victim’s trouser pocket.
“As a result of the abuse, the victim suffered serious injuries, especially to his head. The victim was rushed to Dr. F.L. Tobing Sibolga Regional Hospital for treatment, but ultimately died on Saturday (1/11) at 05.55 WIB,” he said.
After that, the police carried out an investigation by examining a number of witnesses and CCTV.Initially the police arrested the three as they tried to escape.Later the police arrested two other suspects.
“The suspects were charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning murder, or Article 170 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code concerning collective violence which causes the loss of a person’s life. And the suspect SS was additionally charged with Article 365 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence resulting in death,” he explained.
