The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (
BMKG
) warn the potential for rain with moderate to very dense intensity that will still occur in a number of regions of Indonesia in the next week.Check out the prediction.
In the last three days, high intensity rain has flushed the regions of Banten, West Java, Central Java, West Kalimantan and North Maluku.BMKG said, the condition was triggered by the dynamics of atmosphere which are still active around Indonesia.
Some of the main factors that affect extreme weather include the negative Dipole Mode (DMI) index, warm sea level temperatures in Indonesian waters, as well as the active waves of Kelvin and Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO).
In addition, the negative value of outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) shows the high potential for growth of rain clouds.
“The growth of convective clouds still has the potential to occur in the next week because the atmosphere remains in unstable conditions,” BMKG wrote in a written statement, Saturday (9/20).
BMKG also monitors the development of 90W tropical cyclone seeds detected in the Philippine sea. These cyclone seeds have a maximum wind speed of 35 knots, a minimum pressure of 1002 HPA, and moves to the northwest. Its potential to develop into tropical cyclones is relatively high in the next 24 hours.
In addition, the tropical cyclone of partnership is monitored in the South China Sea with a maximum wind speed of 50 knots. The existence of cyclone and cyclone seedlings forms a convergence and wind conflict area which also affects weather conditions in the territory of Indonesia.
BMKG also recorded a wind meeting in a number of areas, ranging from the western Aceh to South Sumatra, the Java Sea, to South Papua. This phenomenon supports the increase in the formation of rain clouds.
Some areas that have the potential to experience moderate rain to very heavy accompanied by lightning and strong winds include:
Sumatra:
Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Kep.Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Lampung
Java:
Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java
