A total of 2,852 joint personnel were deployed to secure
demonstration
which was held by the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (
BEM UI
) In front of the DPR/MPR building, Tuesday (9/9) today.
“Security of the House of Representatives 2,853 personnel joint police, TNI, and DKI Regional Government,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed.
Susatyo said that all personnel on duty were not equipped with firearms.Security will be carried out persuasively by promoting a humanist approach.
“The police are not present to face enemies, but to serve our brothers who want to express their opinions,” he said.
Susatyo also appealed to the masses to hold a demonstration peacefully and orderly.The masses are prohibited from burn tires, damaged public facilities, or close the road.
“Please express your opinion, but still in the corridor of law and order. We are here to ensure that everything runs safely and conducively,” he said.
Meanwhile, related to the transfer of traffic flow around the location is still situational.But residents are advised to avoid the DPR area during the action and are advised to use alternative routes.
“The flow of traffic around the location is situational, adjusting to the escalation of the masses in the field,” he said.
Based on uploads on the Instagram account @benti_official, the demonstration that was held today was titled ‘Action Call #Rakyattagiihjanji’.
In the upload statement delivered, this demonstration was carried out to demand that the government be responsible for meeting the demands of the people.
The demands start from 17+8, the demands of the Indonesian Academic Alliance, the demands of the Dean of the Faculty of Law of PTN in Indonesia and so on.
“Therefore, we invite all Faculties and UI Student Family Association (IKM) to unite to voiced aspirations, confirm the attitude, and demand that the government take responsibility for fulfilling the demands of the people. It is enough for the people to be played with a five -year promise. Now is the time for us to collect!”
