in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

In contrast to Basarnas which only comes from teams in the field, BNPB data can be sourced from the community, regional heads and the TNI and Polri.
“Because BNPB is the coordinator of all forces. It can get information from the Regional Government, some from the TNI, from the National Police,” said Syafi’i at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12).
Even so, Syafi’i ensured that Basarnas data could still be accounted for.According to him, the data will be used for assistance and recovery for the victims.
“However, what the National SAR Agency does will actually be accountable, because it is related to compensation, with the rights of the family,” he said.
Based on BNPB data quoted from their official website, the number of deaths was 712 people in the three affected provinces.Meanwhile, 507 people were missing.
In detail, the number of victims who died in Aceh was 218 people and 227 people missing. Then in North Sumatra, 301 people died and 163 people disappeared. Then in West Sumatra, 193 people died and 117 people disappeared.
Flash floods and landslides hit around 50 districts/cities in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.Thousands of residents’ houses were badly damaged by the floods and landslides that occurred last week.
The Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) estimates that losses due to floods and landslides reached IDR 68.67 trillion.
