Al Khoziny
in Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java.
“We want to be more orderly in the future, so that there are no more similar incidents,” said AHY when met at the UGM Faculty of Engineering, Sleman, DIY, Thursday (8/10).

“This is also very related to regional leaders, of course the governors, mayors, including regents, so that together we can oversee this, carry out outreach, carry out field inspections so that we can evaluate and improve, we can prevent things like this again,” said Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s eldest son.
AHY admitted that he had received information from the Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, regarding only 50 Islamic boarding schools (ponpes) in Indonesia that had Building Building Approval (PBG).
In fact, fulfilling these construction standards involves the safety of many lives. Therefore, continued AHY, yesterday’s tragedy in Sidoarjo was a reminder of the importance of fulfilling safety standards and building suitability for Islamic boarding schools and other buildings in general.
“This is a reminder for all of us so that we really comply with all the standards that have been set because standards exist, SOPs exist for a purpose. First, of course, safety, then second the other building functions,” he said.
“This does not only apply to Islamic boarding schools but also various infrastructure buildings, especially those intended for the public, including schools, campuses, hospitals, health centers and others,” he continued.
AHY also admitted that he had communicated with the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin who planned to evaluate the condition of Islamic boarding school buildings in the country.
“I have also communicated with the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Gus Muhaimin Iskandar. We want to immediately regroup and consolidate because he is at the forefront of this matter, but we certainly support him from matters or the infrastructure aspect,” he said.
Previously, a three-story building including a prayer room at the boys’ dormitory at the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Buduran, Sidoarjo, collapsed, Monday (29/9) afternoon. At the time of the incident, it was discovered that hundreds of students were carrying out Asar prayers in congregation in the building which was still under construction.
Until the end of the search, Tuesday (7/10), Basarnas recorded a total of 171 victims of the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building.Consisting of 104 survivors, 67 died, including 8 body parts.
Coordinating Minister for PM Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin revealed that the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School which collapsed and killed 67 people was 125 years old.
According to Cak Imin, older Islamic boarding schools generally do not have good planning. This condition is caused by several things, one of which is budget limitations.
With a limited budget, Cak Imin said that the development schemes carried out by Islamic boarding schools were mostly carried out in a patchwork manner.
Cak Imin said the government would evaluate the condition. He admitted that he would start recording a list of Islamic boarding schools that were old or over 100 years old to start evaluating to prevent the incident at the Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school from happening again.
Currently, said Cak Imin, the number of educational institutions in the form of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia is 344,130 thousand.Of that number, the number of santri or students reached 9.8 million and students 1.16 million.
