Bank Central Asia (BCA) in the last two years has provided assistance to Taro Village crafters to expand their market access.In collaboration with the local Tulola jewelry brand, BCA helps Taro Village crafters to collaborate to produce beautiful jewelry works.
Thursday (11/9) took place at a hotel in Denpasar, Bali, BCA and Tulola held a jewelry exhibition titled ‘Identity’.
Founder of Tulola Happy Salma said this actor was a form of Tulola collaboration with local crafters from Taro Village.
“We learned a lot from maestro. Our techniques are different but this is the one who is crossing each other and learning each other,” Happy said in the opening of the exhibition.
The actress also said that by adopting local designs, Tulola jewelry can bring its own pride for the wearer.”There is its own wisdom when wearing it because it has preserved these motifs,” he said.
He gave an example of a subeng shape or motif of water straps used in jewelry design.”As if this jewelry will be used for traditional ceremonies,” Happy said.
Meanwhile EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA Hera F Haryn said Taro Village is one of the oldest villages in Bali that has many silver crafters.
“We want to synchronize with Tulola which has a market with strong purchasing power, especially in southern Jakarta,” Hera said.
He said this market needs to be transmitted to Taro Village craftsmen which are very authentic.
Hera also stressed that this collaboration needs to have an economic influence, especially for craftsmen.
“After collaborating with Tulola, we recorded that revenue from Taro Village had an increase in the first year of 30-40 percent,” Hera said.
Meanwhile silver crafters from Taro Village, Bli Meat expressed his gratitude for the role of BCA and Tulola.
“In the past I could only make crafts, now like getting a job,” he said.
Bli Meat admitted that at this time by making the silver craft he could build a village while preserving the values of art.
Jewelry exhibitions to art installations
In addition to showing off design collaboration with local craftsmen, the exhibition in Bali this time was also combined with several other works and forming installation artwork.

There is also jewelry that was exhibited with a collection of kebaya by Didit Hadiprasetyo.The kebaya by Didit was exhibited and worn on a mannequin along with some jewelry from Tulola.
There are also weaving works to local brand fashion products from Bali.
