According to a general surgeon specialist at Bethsaida Hospital Gading Serpong, Clement Dewanto, there are many factors that can make this hemorrhoid or hemorrhoids recur.The most important factor is lifestyle, especially unhealthy eating patterns.
“For most patients, hemorrhoids can reappear after surgery. However, this is greatly influenced by lifestyle after action. If a healthy lifestyle is maintained, the results of the operation can last longer,” Clement said in a written statement, Monday (8/25).
Causes hemorrhoids recurrence after surgery
Hemorrhoid operations do not necessarily erase the risk of relapse.If daily habits remain bad, symptoms will re-emerge.Some of the main causes include:
• Drinking lack of water (ideally 2-3 liters per day).
• Lack of fiber intake, which makes stool hard and difficult to remove.
• Old habits in the toilet, for example playing mobile phones, which increase pressure on blood vessels.
• Unhealthy bowel movements, which can trigger injury to the anal blood vessels.
“The preventive key is in maintaining the consistency of stools to remain soft and avoid the habit of delaying or prolonging bowel movements,” Clement said.
On that occasion, he also explained that surgery could be carried out again on hemorrhoids patients who experienced recurrence.However, not all cases of hemorrhoids require surgery.
According to Clement, there are three main signs that become an indication of action or operation must be carried out immediately, namely:
1. Great pain that makes activity disturbed.
2. Difficulty defecating to reduce the quality of life.
3. bleeding that does not stop.
“If the symptoms have interfered with the quality of life, do not postpone consultation. In mild hemorrhoids, simple actions can be chosen. While for severe hemorrhoids, more complex operations are usually more effective,” he said.
Level of hemorrhoid operation
Clement said, the type of action or surgery in hemorrhoids patients is determined based on the severity of hemorrhoids.For example, for grade 1-2 (light) hemorrhoids enough to be handled by a minimum invasive method such as laser or rubber ligation (Pila).
While grade 3-4 hemorrhoids (medium-tough) require conventional operations or a combination of modern techniques.For example with a laser to destroy hemorrhoids tissue with laser rays.Smaller wounds, minimal bleeding, and faster recovery.
Even so, Clement reminded that operations can indeed overcome hemorrhoids, but it is not a guarantee that this problem will not return.
“Drink enough water, consume fiber, avoid unhealthy foods, and do not linger in the toilet. That’s the best way for the results of the operation to last a long time,” concluded Clement.
