Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI) officially released the first unit of the Mercedes-Benz 1626L Euro 5 bus chassis for the export market.This achievement marks the important steps of the DCVMI export strategy utilizing the latest production facilities in Cikarang which officially operates on June 10, 2025.
“The release of the first export unit is a clear proof of the role of DCVMI in strengthening the local supply chain, encouraging the growth of the domestic industry, and expanding the capabilities of Indonesian exports,” said Sankaranararaan Ramamurthi Service, President Director of DCVMI in a written statement, quoted Monday (25/8).
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO of Daimler India India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), revealed the release of the first Mercedes-Benz 1626L Euro 5 unit for this export is a historical achievement for DCVMI and DCVI.
All were won not long after the company inaugurated a new factory in Cikarang.
“Our vision strengthens Indonesia’s portfolio in the Daimler Truck Global Market now quickly becomes a reality. We are proud to be able to present high -quality local products at competitive prices as an alternative to imports, providing real values for customers outside Indonesia. The release of export units is only the beginning of our efforts to expand Indonesia’s role in the Global Daimler and Asean trail,” Arya said.
Arya said 1626L Euro 5 Bus Chassis was specifically designed to support export strategies with the main focus on countries in Southeast Asia.
This vehicle is said to have been equipped with Euro 5 emission technology, air suspension, rear engine configuration, and space frame.
“This combination presents superior performance as well as compliance with strict environmental regulations. With a target of around 60 percent local content for complete buses, 1626L Euro 5 provides a significant contribution to Indonesia’s efforts in increasing domestic added value,” he said.
Sankaranar Service added that his party was also grateful to the government for the support given.
“During the inauguration, we promised Mr. Agus to build an export strategy and we now fulfill the promise,” he said.
