appears to be considering steps to officially admit
Palestine
As a sovereign country following a number of other European countries lately.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Rasmussen stated that recognition of the Palestinian state was only a matter of time.
“We all want to recognize Palestine, so this is a matter of time,” Rasmussen said, as quoted
Reuters
.
A similar statement also came from Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who confirmed his country was waiting for the right moment to recognize Palestine.
Previously, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that his country was ready to give recognition to Palestine.
A number of other countries, including Britain, France, Canada, and Malta, have also stated that they will recognize Palestine in the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) in September.
