As many as six people were sentenced to the incident

Guatemala
.The fire in 2017 killed 41 young women.
The Guatemala Court on Tuesday (12/8) sentenced to six people in prison for their role in a fire at the Vigen de la Asuncion orphanage in 2017.
AFP reported, they were found guilty of various crimes, ranging from abuse of authority to premeditated murder.
According to the judge’s decision, they were sentenced to prison between 6-25 years.
The orphanage or shelter is the property of the Guatemala government.The fire broke out on March 8, 2017.
The orphanage located in San Jose Pinula, North Guatemala was burned.During the fire, as many as 19 people were killed on the spot, while the injured were taken to the hospital in the capital.
At that time the fire was associated with the internal condition of the orphanage that was shaky.The orphanage is faced with accusations of harassment and persecution.
Angel Cardenas, one of the former administrators of the orphanage, admitted that the incident could already be predicted.
“This incident is like a time bomb, it can be estimated beforehand,” Cardenas said as reported by AFP.
Not only that, in the orphanage that accommodates 400 people, there are often clashes or brawls.The condition of the orphanage is called not ideal.
Rosa Aguirre, a resident who left her two sisters, said her brother had been included in an isolation cell that she called like a “chicken coop”.
Complaints were submitted but ignored.Guatemala media also often reports the condition of poor orphanages including food quality and alleged persecution and sexual harassment by administrators.
