He believes it is not a problem if the subsidies or incentives provided by the government for fossil energy are diverted to green hydrogen.In this way, the subsidy does not need to be increased, it can just be transferred.
“For example, replacing 1,000 barrels of fossil fuel, yes, this subsidy will be transferred to hydrogen so that it is more economical. It is not added, but transferred,” he said.
On the same occasion, Pupuk Indonesia Operations Director Dwi Satriyo Nugroho said that his party views green ammonia as a necessity.Green ammonia itself is produced with the main raw material of green hydrogen.
Dwi said green ammonia was a necessity because currently Pupuk Indonesia uses natural gas as a raw material for ammonia.The problem is that natural gas is not a new renewable energy and one day its supply will run out.Therefore, Pupuk Indonesia must switch to green hydrogen.
To make the switch, Pupuk Indonesia said it needs to invest IDR 99.7 trillion until 2030.
“That’s a big investment. If we invest a lot and what we get is not at a competitive price, what will happen? So we need incentives,” he said.
