The inauguration procession was held at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday (8/10) today, referring to Presidential Decree Number 108 of 2025 concerning the Dismissal of the Acting Governor and Ratification, Appointment of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua 2025-2030
“The President of the Republic of Indonesia considered, remembered, decided and so on, appointing Mathius Fakhiri as Governor of Papua for 2025-2030, Aryoko Rumarompen as Deputy Governor of Papua for 2025-2030,” said Prabowo.

The 2024 Papua regional elections will be participated by two pairs of candidates, namely Mathius Fakhiri-Aryoko Rumaropen from the independent route supported by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition and Benhur Tomi Mano-Constant Karma supported by PDIP.
The results of the 2024 Papuan Pilkada are an ongoing election dispute at the Constitutional Court.In the session, the Constitutional Court decided on a Revote (PSU).
PSU was held last Wednesday (6/8).As a result, Mathius Fakhiri-Aryoko Rumaropen won 259,817 votes or 50.4 percent of the total valid votes in the Papua Regional Election PSU.
The votes cast by Mathius-Aryoko received 50.4 percent of the total valid votes, so he was appointed as the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for the 2025-2030 period.
Afterwards, the PSU results were also challenged again by candidate pair for governor and deputy governor number one, Benhur Tomi Mano-Constant Karma, to the Constitutional Court.However, the Constitutional Court rejected the lawsuit.
The MK said the evidence submitted by Benhur-Constan for the lawsuit did not show any violation of the law.The accusations of human rights violations filed against Matius-Aryoko were also not proven.
“To judge, reject the applicant’s application in its entirety,” said Chief Constitutional Court Suhartoyo when reading out the decision in the trial, Wednesday (17/9).
