Again, using the veto rights to thwart the resolution of the United Nations Security Council (
United Nations
) regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
On Thursday (18/9), the United Nations held a vote for resolutions that demanded “immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza which was respected by all parties”.The resolution also demanded the liberation of the hostages as soon as possible and unconditionally.
This draft is supported by 14 countries.However, the US has vetoed the text.
The Pakistani ambassador to the UN Asim Ahmad was angry at the US decision.Ahmad said Veto US was a “dark moment in this assembly.”
“The world is watching. Children’s crying should pierce our hearts,” he said.
Ahead of the voting, the United Nations Ambassador to Denmark Christina Lassen even though it had warned that the UN DK resolution had to bring a clear message to the people of Gaza and the hostages.
“This resolution should send a clear message, that the Security Council does not ignore the starving civilians, hostages, as well as demands for a ceasefire,” the UN ambassador said to Denmark Christina Lassen, as quoted by AFP.
“One generation is lost not only because of war, but also because of hunger and despair. Meanwhile, Israel has expanded its military operations in Gaza City which aggravates the suffering of civilians,” he continued.
