, respect and respect the initiative of the six state institutions (LN) in the field of human rights that form an independent facts-seeking team related to allegations of violence that occurred in the wave of demonstrations at the end of August.
Violence that occurred in the wave of demonstrations was known to take injuries, casualties, damage to facilities, to looting the homes of state officials.
Yusril said the government respected the work of the independent state institution.He said each institution submitted a report on concrete steps in handling including a visit to the areas that had been carried out.
“That then the six human rights state institutions formed an independent facts -seeking team related to excesses and handling of demonstrations that led to chaos, this was fully their initiative as an independent state institution, without any encouragement let alone direction from the president or government,” Yusril said through a written statement on Monday (9/15).
Previously, on Friday (12/9), at the Komnas HAM office, Jakarta, six leaders of state-related state institutions that were independent announced the formation of an independent team to find the facts of violence in the wave of demonstrations August-September 2025.
The six institutions are the National Commission on Human Rights, the National Antime Commission on Women (Komnas Wanita), the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI), LPSK, and the National Disability Commission (KND)
According to Yusril the formation of the independent team had previously been delivered by the Chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights Anis Hidayah in the Coordination Meeting (Coordination Meeting) for the Handling of EXES Demo held by the government last week at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Coordinating Ministry for Kumham Imipas.
In the coordination meeting, all related commissions and Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) were present, except Ombudsman.Yusril stated that the independent state institution was formed by the Law.
Yusril said that each institution submitted a report on concrete measures of handling including visits to the regions that had been carried out.
He emphasized that the government respected the independence of the human rights state institution.
“Therefore, when inviting them to a coordination meeting, Kemenko Kumham Imipas really only coordinated without giving any direction to the state institution in the field of human rights,” Yusril said.
“The government respects six human rights institutions at the initiative to form an independent team, conduct non -customary investigations of various demonstrations and their handling at the end of last August, with the agenda as they have announced,” he continued.
Unlike TGPF
In the same statement, Yusril emphasized that the independent team formed by Komnas HAM et al was different from the proposal of the formation of a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) as proposed
He said that if the president formed the TGPF, it must be spawned with a Presidential Decree (Keppres).
“Based on past experience, the formation of TGPF is usually carried out with a Presidential Decree (KEPPRES) which at the same time establishes membership, duties, and work periods of the team,” Yusril said.
Therefore, Yusril submitted all decisions regarding the independent team formed by six human rights institutions and or TGPF to Prabowo.
“I do not dare to overtake him because the formation of such a team is entirely the authority of the President. Until this moment, when the President has returned from Qatar, we have not received direction from him,” said the State Administration Law.
