Mount Marapi

, erupted on Sunday (7/9) night until it triggered the ash column as high as 1.2 kilometers above the top of the mountain.
The Volcano Post (PGA) reported that Mount Marapi reported that the eruption occurred at around 20:00 WIB with a duration of less than one minute.
“There was an eruption at 20:16 WIB. This eruption was recorded in a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 30.4 millimeters and a duration of about 54 seconds,” said PGA Mount Marapi Ahmad Rifandi officer in Padang, Sunday.
From the local PGA report, the gray ash column with thick intensity leaning to the northeast.
At present, Mount Marapi is still alert or level II.The Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) issued a number of recommendations, including prohibiting the community, tourists, or visitors in a three -kilometer radius of the activity center (Verbeek Crater).
PVMBG also reminded the threat of cold lava potential, especially for people who live along the river flowing from the top of the volcano.
This condition should be considered especially when it rains or the rainy season.
Ahmad also appealed to the public to wear masks in the event of ash rain.
PGA together with PVMBG also continue to remind the pile of material due to the volcanic eruption which caused the emergence of water flow and at any time the potential for cold lava floods.
This condition cannot be ignored because it is very vulnerable and dangerous, especially when it rains with high intensity.The most likely thing to happen was the cold lava flood like the events of May 11, 2024 which claimed dozens of lives.
